At Archibalds we are fronted by an experienced sales team, buyers and estimators who have extensive knowledge of product ranges within the building industry.  We provide a first class collect and delivery service from our four branches at Dragonville Industrial Estate in Durham, Preston Farm Industrial Estate in Stockton on Tees, Admiral Business Park in Cramlington and Brown Lane West in Leeds.

A reputation built on solid foundations

Founded in 1840 by Alderman TJ. Tomlinson

Passed on to Messrs. John and George Archibald in 1910 who held ownership for 14 years, including the war years. The business supplied iron and steel to the local farriers, collieries and engineering works.

In 1924 the late Mr W. McIntyre purchased interests and took control, expanding the business to become a stockist of materials for the building trade. The business was handed to Mr McIntyre's son and grandson.

In 2001 Archibalds was purchased by Jewson Ltd, the national firm of builders' merchants, but is controlled locally by Mr Doug Emmerson, the Merchant Director. The company is currently enjoying its most successful time ever and there are plans to open branches in addition to the Durham, Stockton and recent Cramlington branch.
